Please don’t blame the family for not updating the microchip, there are many pitfalls and an extreme lack of help and advice.
Dotty went missing on 14th November 2023 from Coopers Lane, Grove Park, London, SE12 area.
She was taken to a veterinary clinic and they checked her microchip registration, which sadly hadn’t been updated. The previous owner collected Dotty and as yet has not returned her to her family.
She is a brown and white Springer Spaniel, neutered, microchipped.

DOTTY REUNITED 🐾❤️🐾Now back home, funny how police being involved helps get stolen dogs home!
15th November 2023.
Lovely Message from Jose:
“We are all so happy!! We are crying tears of joy. All our family and friends love this dog. Thanks so much for all your help!!
She’s been reunited with her favourite sock!! 😊”.
We love a happy ending. #EveryShareCounts thank you all.
It seems like a good time to remind everyone to check their own pet’s microchip registration is correct and up to date. https://petdatabase.com/doglost
If Jose’s vet, who he had been with for three years had checked or had advised Jose to check Dotty’s microchip registration this would never have happened.

Dotty’s microchip will be updated 🐾❤️🐾
Microchip Registration pitfalls for pet owners:
Databases losing registrations.
The fraudulent database is number one on Google search, thousands of pet owners don’t have a clue they are on a database that will show their pet as unregistered
Breeders don’t want to be traced and just give new puppy owners the microchip paperwork.
Imported puppies and dogs are all microchipped to get into the UK but not one is registered on a UK database.
Dogs who have been bought without paperwork.
The public, wrongly, assume that registering at a vet clinic is updating their microchip records as the microchip is scanned and the number is noted on their files.
